Announcing “Tetrobot and Co.”
Sequels tend to have bad press in videogames those days, probably because there are too much of them and most of the time they are “easy” sequels, with very few changes (like Mario series) or too radical changes (maybe Resident Evil series).
Then there are sequels, like Toki Tori 2, that try to explore new areas and expand their game universe without compromising the spirit of the original title. We can’t wait to play Toki Tori 2.
What kind of sequel will Tetrobot and Co. be ?
You’ll tell us.
> WHAT? WHEN? WHERE?
The concept of Tetrobot and Co. has emerged from feedbacks we received about Blocks That Matter and from various game prototypes we made in early 2012. Blocks That Matter is quite challenging, that’s how it has been designed, but it can be very frustrating sometimes. Maybe too much. That’s something we want to work on.
Of course, Tetrobot will be a very important part of this title but you will not play as Tetrobot. It means you should expect a lot of changes in terms of gameplay and character’s capabilities.
We plan to release the game in early 2013 on Windows, Mac, Linux and some touch devices.
> WHO IS MAKING THIS GAME?
The man who brought you Blocks That Matter best gameplay features and bug fix is back and ready to write code.
Even if he still refer to him as a game designer, his real work is to create levels, so he’s more a level designer. Nobody knows.
Géraud Soulié (aka Operion)
Géraud worked on BTM as a character designer and illustrator. Now, he is in charge of every visual elements of the game. It means it will be gorgeous.
Yann Van Der Cruyssen (aka Morusque)
Also known as Morusque in the chiptune area, Yann is our music composer and sound designer. You’ve already heard Yann’s work if you’ve played Knytt Stories, Saira and Blocks That Matter of course.
Thank you all for your messages ! We read them before but never replied, what a shame…
We’ll share more info about Tetrobot and Co. next year and we hope you’ll love what you’ll see.
hello, i loved blocks that matter i´ve finished it today but i need the other blocks but that´s another history, well when i finished i saw the credits and there it said that you will do the 2nd part (well it said to be continued but thats the same) and then i run to internet to see your page and wow surprise you are working in it but in other comment you said that you will not play as tetrobot so maybe i think you can put some levels in which you play as him, another thing please i say it serious PLEASE!!!! don´t get off of big mama is one of the best challenges of the game thanks.
Great, a sequel! I think U going in the right way. Also playing beta Toki tori 2 and like the idea with different gameplay mechanic. I hope I can test it someday 🙂
I loved BTM at start, and passionately fucking hated when I GAVE UP. I stopped playing on level 30. I just can’t repeat the same shit over and over, just to fail again.
I only need one feature – rewind (just like Toki Tori). The game will be excellent then. Give elitist players their “no repeat mode” and give casuals their noob mode – I need the latter to have fun. Fuck challenge, I have enough of it at work. I play to enjoy.
Bring rewind to BTM so I can finally finish it.
What an amazing news !!! I wish you good luck and at least as much success as with BTM the 1st. If you need some Beta Test, you know where to find me 😉
Just the other day I came here after seeing the Blocks that Matter update, hoping that meant a second game was in the works. Sadly, nothing was to be seen and the blog/news sections seemed almost entirely forgotten and unused. I was so excited to be notified of this new blog post and to see that a new game is in the works!
Ah.
Is is a tetro-nano-bot I see in this syringe?
