Seasons : Programmer Sandbox
Since the release of Greek & Wicked, we are back on Seasons’dev (of course) and we are extremely motivated.
William is working on Level Design and I am programming gameplay features.
Our little fox is now trapped in a sort of programmer’s lair. No more backgrounds and parallax scrolling made by William : say “hi !” to the placeholder shapes created by Guillaume.
This video shows you all the things our fox needs to learn to navigate in this “work in progress” world, like seeding trees, looking at (giant) flowers growing, moving objects and communicating with other animals.
But don’t be afraid : it’s only a test map. We decided to show you basic features only so there’s still a lot of things to discover in the next months, before the game release.
Come on, your english is great guys! By the way, it will be cool to share some e-mails if you agree, I’m following your works since you have released TTT and I think we could talk a little more about your Season and maybe some other “indie” projects… My adress is sim[[dot]]bachelier[[at]]gmail[[dot]]com.
We loved Blueberry Garden, it’s clearly a source of inspiration for Seasons, but the seed system will be a little bit different than the BG one.
You will have more control on the ecosystem and the ecosystem will be more “scripted” than BG, in the way that a tree will not auto-seed other trees, only the player choose where trees will be placed (that’s an example among others).
Thanks for your feedback 🙂
And btw, we live in Montpellier (in a Yellow Submarine), a nice place in southern France.
This fact explains a lot of things regarding our way of writing English sentences ^^
The seeds idea is great. It reminds me the one used in Blueberry Garden… I really believe that’s a wicked feature in a platformer!
By the way guys, are you from Paris or another city around?
Buster the cat is in the sofa :p
Oh yeah in english, Where is Brian ? Brian is in the kitchen. And the cat ?
Hi Gun 🙂
Don’t be so excited, we won’t get a perfect light system like the one present in Alan Wake… even if light will be featured in Seasons 🙂
Les mecs j’en peux plus d’attendre, tu comprends ça Guillaume ? Il faut faire quelque chose pour moi je viens de finir A. Wake et il me faut une nouvelle grosse pointure pour me divertir 🙂
